Notice, Report, Schedule & Chart of Proposed Tax Increase

Pursuant to A.R.S § 9-499.15, the Town of Wellton hereby gives notice that it may increase the Town’s Transaction Privilege Tax (Sales Tax) rate and provides this written notice of the proposed increased tax.

Specifically, the Town of Wellton may increase its Transaction Privilege Tax (sales tax, or the Town’s “City Sales Tax”) to compensate for the Town’s pending reduced allocations of State Shared Revenue.  The Town’s allocation of State Shared Revenues, which it receives based in part on the official U.S. Census Bureau 2020 Decennial Census populations, is expected to decrease.  On March 15, 2022, the Town Council may consider increasing the Town’s Transaction Privilege Tax (sales tax, or the Town’s “City Sales Tax”) percentage to compensate for this reduction.  The Town will use revenues generated under this increased tax rate throughout the Town’s General Fund.

Currently, the Town of Wellton has a 2.5% Sales Tax.  The new proposed rate would increase the Town’s Sales Tax up to 3.5%.

A schedule of the proposed increased tax that includes the amount of the tax and a written report or data that supports the increased tax is available on the Town’s website.

The Wellton Town Council will consider approving this proposed tax increase at its special Council meeting on March 15, 2022 at 7:00PM in the Council Chambers, 28634 Oakland Avenue, Wellton, Arizona 85356.

THE ABOVE TAX INCREASE WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE THIRTY (30) DAYS AFTER APPROVAL BY THE TOWN COUNCIL.
